Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh is a native of
Scotland. She was born in Portugal, Colombia and then returned to Scotland.
That's where she started performing on stage at The Edinburgh Festival. She
moved to London at the age of 16 and soon was involved in filmmaking in the
indie genre. The first time she was paid was as a stoner on Irvine Welsh's The
Acid House (1998). She also performed as an actor and director in the theatre.
Moving to Los Angeles in 2004 led to more stage work. She directed Anne Dudek
(a regular star on Mad Men/Big Love (2006)) as and David Dayan Fisher (a
regular part on 24 (2001/NCIS 2003)) to rave reviews. In Headspace (2005), she
got her first US movie part as "Stacy", a manipulative person who was
a newly-baptized Christian. Her first movie role was in Headspace (2005) as the
manipulative, born-again Christian "Thumper Wint". This comedy was
written by Heathers (1988). Exam (2009), which she worked in London and LA was
her next. Awarded a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding British Debut and winner
at the Santa Barbara Film Fest of Best Independent, Pollyanna's performance was
"smart and sassy" in equal parts the emotion center of the
movie" and her ability to spot the "emotional vulnerability” of her
tough and ambitious character. GQ has stated that Pollyanna McIntosh, a
brilliant actor is "extremely talented". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa
(2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ) is an South American comedy in which she
plays the disgruntled wife of Trevor Lock, a Brit comedian. Shot in Peru and
she is Spanish throughout. In Burke and Hare (2010), directed by John Landis,
she plays Isla Fisher's best friend along with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica
Hynes, Tom Wilkinson and Tim Curry. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011) was a huge
success. It received rave reviews and also topped the New York Times readers'
favorite movies poll. She was awarded three Best Actress nominations, including
Total Film's Frightfest Award as well as Fright Meter’s.
